Christmas Party & Rally

West Lancs Boxer Training Club and The Mancunian Boxer Club held their joint Christmas Party and Rally on Monday, 17th December.  This is one of the big social nights of the year for both clubs.

A fun night was had by boxers and their owners in a packed venue, we had a fabulous turn-out of over 120 people from both clubs.  Great fun was had by all in the fun events and the knock-out match rally.  Socially, friends old an new had a chance to relax and enjoy themselves.  An amazing Christmas Buffet was enjoyed by everyone.

Boxer Obedience Display

Janet and Graham Metcalf got the evening off to a flying start, with an impressive display of obedience trained boxers in their festive outfits.

Boxer Pass The Parcel

The fun started with a hilarious game of pass-the-parcel (or was that catch-the-parcel?) - who was concentrating most, those with two legs or those with four?  Congratulations to Paul Cantwell and Frazer who emerged as the winners, although we're not sure which of them put in the most effort!

Boxer Musical Chairs

Before our chuckle muscles had time to rest it was straight into the even more intense competition of boxer musical chairs!  In this version, both ends of the lead have to find a chair and 'sit' when the music stops.  If you ever thought that the show ring was competitive, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

The boxers soon got the idea and we had two sets of ears listening for the pause in the music and two sets of eyes calculating the nearest chair.  As the number of remaining competitors dwindled we saw people gliding towards the few available seats when the music stopped, followed (sometimes preceded) by a boxer who was already in the sitting pose before they had stopped moving!  The victors were the most agile teamwork of Sharon Martin with her boxer Tiah.

Fabulous!  If you missed this unusual game this year, don't miss it next year.

Boxer Christmas Parade

Over twenty boxers formed the Christmas Parade, dressed in their finest Christmas outfits.  There were red coats, 'hoodies', sparkle, Christmas dresses and some of the poshest outfits we've seen on parade for the 'best Christmas outfit' (and not only on the dogs!).  Following the appointment of three impartial judges selected from the audience, Taih, in her reindeer outfit, took the title.  We're amazed that she could present herself in such a calm and refined manner following her strenuous efforts in the Musical Chairs - congratulations to both Sharron and Tiah on such a gallant effort.

The Joint Mancunian / West Lancs
Christmas Rally

The judge for the evening was Rob Wimbush (Redmol boxers).  The rally was held in a match style,  where the dogs are judged in pairs against each other.  This gives a faster turnaround of dogs in the ring and makes a more interesting show for the spectators.

Everyone, exhibitors and spectators, enjoyed the rally and Rob found his winners as follows:

Best Adult In Rally

Nick and Kerry Hobson's Berwynfa Bump 'n' Grind at Nickerbox  (Maisie)

Best Puppy In Rally

Boardman and Dawson's Walkon Tantrums 'n' Tiaras at Bonabo (Demi)

Reserve Best Puppy In Rally

Boardman and Dawson's Bonobo First Issue  (Deisel)

Congratulations to the winners and special thanks to Rob for judging the Christmas Rally.

Christmas Raffles

Two huge Doggie Hampers were raffled by the clubs, containing lots of goodies including toys, chews and treats.

The main raffle had a big assortment of impressive prizes, donated by the committees and members of both clubs.  The raffle was well supported by everyone and resulted in a presentation of the proceeds of £135.00 to Boxer Welfare at the end of the evening.

Special Thanks

Once again, the Christmas Party and Rally held jointly between the Mancunian Boxer Club and the West Lancs was a resounding success.  Such a tremendous occasion cannot pass without thanking all those concerned who worked so hard in planning, organising and contributing to the success of the evening.  This is a big part of what our clubs are about, so thank you, on behalf of both of the boxer clubs, to everyone concerned.
